Tamera Mickelson is a Mixed Media Artist and purrveyer of whimsically cute designs!

For the last 11 years I’ve been creating a variety of jewelry items with materials that include: recycled watch, computer, and electronics parts, copper, brass, nickel silver, sterling silver, and powdered glass enamel that is fused to the metal in a kiln. Everything on my table are my designs and handmade. I am moving the focus away from jewelry though I will still carry some designs. The pandemic gave me a lot of time to think and to look at my business and making one of a kind jewelry and doing every single bit of the work myself is neither sustainable nor is it generating the business growth I was hoping for so it’s time to change things up.

In 2019 I started doing linoleum block printing. My prints are created from my own designs and hand printed. There are slight variations in the prints because I’m hand printing them but otherwise the designs I’ve created are currently all available for the foreseeable future. I have some new design ideas I will be moving forward with now that shows are starting to be possible again.

2020 became a year of new beginnings for me! I have always loved art. I have been working on improving my drawings skills and have finally had time to take art classes I’ve been wanting to do. I am in love with watercolor painting and I have been learning to use all sorts of fine art tools and supplies. I’m really enjoying being a mixed media artist! What my art was missing most (aside from enamel jewelry) was color! I can see the full spectrum of colors and while I enjoy creating with the old watch parts my ability to use color in my designs was very limited. This is why I’m pulling back on the jewelry and working on more color designs that I can have digitized and printed on a variety of items. The diversity of working in mixed media seems to suit my personality very well!  To see my latest work I encourage you to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!
